Fornside Woollen Products

On the farm we have mainly Herdwick sheep but also a small number of Wensleydale, Ryeland and Gotland sheep. This gives us an interesting range of wool types and colours which we make full use of!

Rugs

We handweave a variety of floor rugs.

 

Pegloom rugs that show off the lovely colours of the Herdwick sheep and look fantastic in front of a fire or on a stone floor. 

 

 

 

 

Or heddle loom rugs that are lighter weight and combine fleece and yarn together.

 

 

 

We also produce a range of throws and knee rugs in co-operation with a nearby farm under the Helvellyn Herdwick range.

Yarn

We have the following 100% local wools in stock at present:-

- Herdwick Hogg (1st clip dark brown) Aran weight £8 per 100gm in hanks/balls or on the cone 

- Herdwick Ewe (light grey) blended 50:50 with our next door neighbour's Blue Faced Leicester Aran weight £8 per 100gm

- Ryeland Aran weight £6 per 100gm

- Mohair blended 50:50 with Blue Faced Leicester Double Knitting £8 per 100gm

Felt

Combinations of natural and dyed fleece are transformed into stunning bowls and jewellery.
