Fornside Farm Location

St John's in the Vale is a peaceful valley running from Threlkeld
towards Thirlmere, about 4 miles east of Keswick. Fornside is set back from the road, with direct private access to the fells. The Helvellyn range of mountains is directly behind the farm and there are magnificent views of Skiddaw and Blencathra to the north.
Despite the tranquil setting, the M6 motorway is only 15 miles away. Fornside is on the B5322, 3 miles south of the A66 at Threlkeld.
We have created a private farm trail (exclusively for the use of our cottage guests) to help you enjoy the woods, fields, streams, wildlife and fantastic views. The valley remains a stronghold of the Red Squirrel, we have regular sightings on the farm.
The local area offers a choice of excellent country pubs within 3 miles, and a wide range of shops, restaurants and pubs in Keswick, just 10 minutes drive away. Keswick also has a cinema, renowned theatre, museums and pool. As well as suggesting routes for walks, we can offer guidance on a wide range of local activities and sports including golf, fishing, sailing, canoeing, horse riding, ghyll scrambling, climbing, quad biking and even paragliding.
There is easy access from Fornside to all the attractions of The Lake District. Many interesting towns, villages, mountain passes and lakes are within a short drive. There are beautiful walks in the immediate vicinity and a visit to the nearby atmospheric Castlerigg Stone Circle is a must.
